WOMEN IN BUSINESS ACTION COUNCIL

Globally, there has been growing interest in the business case for advancing gender equality. The most significant evidence has focused on the macroeconomic impacts, including higher national productivity and gross domestic product.  Despite the importance of expanding evidence base to support the business case for gender equality, women remain under-represented in the global economy due to various forms of discrimination. Inequal opportunities, lack of financial access, and gender bias are only some of the frequent discrimination faced by women.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exaggerated those gaps worldwide. It is predicted that some of the “modest progress” that has been made on gender equality will disappear as a result of COVID-19. Much remains to be done to enhance business’ and government ‘s commitment to recover from this situation and use evidence to inform business decisions and drive organisational transformation.

The Indonesian B20 presidency commits to  convey recommendations and policy actions through which Governments can empower the business community to reduce the gender gap while being mindful of the diverse set of economies and populations across the G20. Our goal is that more women lead, participate in and have access to enhanced business and economic opportunities, will advance sustainable and inclusive growth.
