FINANCE & INFRASTRUCTURE

The focus for recovery and growth in finance after pandemic is the collaborative effort in the development of a new normal economic infrastructure. Infrastructure remains a key and it is more apparent now after the pandemic that there's still an imbalance of access globally.

In the Global Health Security Index, a project of the Nuclear Threat Initiative and the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security developed with the Economist Intelligence Unit, it shows that the average overall GHS Index score is 40.2 out of a possible 100. While high-income countries report an average score of 51.9, which shows that collectively, global preparedness for epidemics and pandemics remains very weak.

The data shows that there needs to be a priority of different types of infrastructure to address the health security issue. B20 seeks to facilitate the conversation on how to better adapt to the post-pandemic global situation, so economic recovery may lead to an inclusive and sustainable financing for infrastructure.

B20 Indonesia will also touch base on the importance of inclusive and sustainable future by focusing on financing green infrastructure. A report released by Swiss Re Institute showcases that climate change could wipe off up to 18% of GDP off the worldwide economy by 2050 if global temperatures rise by 3.2°C. The urgency of climate change has brought unprecedented numbers of natural disasters to the planet, further distressing the global economy. It is time to address the issue and find the applicable solution moving forward.
