ENERGY, SUSTAINABILITY & CLIMATE

Climate change mitigation is inextricably linked to the challenge of meeting the world’s energy requirements and maintaining global prosperity.

S&P Global Ratings’s 2022 study of climate change vulnerability concluded that more than 4% of global annual economic output could be lost by 2050.

It is increasingly apparent that to accelerate the shift to carbon-friendly energy sources, businesses and governments need to work together to rethink and rework their policies and markets to promote renewables.

This year’s B20 Indonesia Energy, Sustainability and Climate Task Force seeks to accelerate an inclusive transition to sustainable energy, bearing in mind the need to collaboratively address energy poverty as part of ensuring energy security for all.

In diversifying energy sources to low-carbon footprint renewables, this Taskforce also seeks to reduce dependencies and volatility associated with coal, oil and gas producers by making alternative energy sources accessible to all, and thereby accelerating the path to inclusive growth.
